Reflecting on Lent

"Lent is the time when we learn the language of repentance and forgiveness by disciplining our mind, our spirit and our appetites, so that nothing prevents us from hearing Godís voice and seeking him out. The joy in Lent comes from our confidence in the resurrection of a Savior who will deliver us from sin and restore us to life."
Archbishop Charles J Chaput, O.F.M. Cap  more

9/11 The Catholic Church Remembers - Visit this site by the US Catholic Bishops with reflections on the worst terrorist attack on the US and one of the deadliest days on American soil.

"... God of peace, bring your peace to our violent world:
peace in the hearts of all men and women
and peace among the nations of the earth.
Turn to your way of love
those whose hearts and minds
are consumed with hatred..."

"...Comfort and console us,
strengthen us in hope,
and give us the wisdom and courage
to work tirelessly for a world
where true peace and love reign
among nations and in the hearts of all."

From Pope Benedict's Prayer at Ground Zero April 2008
